In a world overwhelmed by noise, speed, and constant pressure,
I paint the sea not as a spectacle,
but as a space of restoration.
My work is a pause —
a place where the human psyche can slow down,
breathe,
and regain balance.
I believe that silence is not emptiness,
but a form of resistance
to the overload of the modern world.
My paintings are created
not to excite,
but to restore.
Dmitry Oleyn is a marine artist.
He was born on August 8, 1979 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.
"My paintings are unique because each creator puts a part of their unique emotions. My goal is to bring people a piece of warmth, calmness and honesty through my paintings", Dmitry Oleyn said.
Realization of his vocation came to him from early years, which gave the direction of education. From 1995 to 2000 Dmitry went to Dnepropetrovsk Art College where he participated in his first exhibitions. He was awarded the Diploma For significant personal contribution to the development of culture and spirituality of Ukraine.
Moving to Kiev in 2000 gave the opportunity to expand his creative potential. Dmitry entered the Kiev Academy of Arts NAOMA, Faculty of Painting, which he graduated in 2008.
The creativity of the young artist was already noticed in the academic period not only within the limits of the native country, so he was invited by foreign galleries as well: in 2001 by Dmitrenko in the USA; from 2000 to 2008 in Academy NAOMA, Ukraine; from 2005 to 2006 in Mainz, Germany; in 2009 Ukrainian Art Week, Ukraine; in 2009 Gryphon, Ukraine (personal) and in House of Actor, Ukraine (personal).
"Creator, who is characterized by his own manner of painting. The power of the stroke and dynamics are combined with the incredible complexity of the materiality of our world. The romantic images of his works give a new unrecognized feeling of strength, harmony and love," GUAM's international publishing project, 2009.
Press coverage leaves its mark on history:
2010 Artistic Olympus of the artist Dmitry Oleyn;
2010 Golden Book of Ukraine - Artist Dmitry Oleyn;
2011 Faces of Ukraine - Artist Dmitry Oleyn.
"Beauty is not in what and how it is depicted in the picture, but in the artist's felt need to depict what is seen. This necessity itself generates the power required to accomplish the task," Millais said
The grandeur and harmony of nature have always fascinated Dmitry. Even being a child he was struck by seascapes in the House Museum, which have left an imprint in the soul and perception of the world.
The path to the marinist was long as portraits, landscapes and abstractions were painted and sculptures were created. But the artist found himself in the element of water, its strength and softness, into which he was able to transfer his energy.
His unique technique, which includes the application of paint, the angle of installation of the canvas and mixing colors, was also developed by the author himself.
In 2017 Dmitry moved to Germany, which became a turning point. He got to be recognized not only as an artist, but also as an innovator of the technique of writing relief paintings.
Works have become more expressed emotionally. The author has begun to study the reaction of people to his work in more detail. Communication gives an understanding of what thoughts and feelings cause his work.
There are a number of exhibitions at the Santa Clara Gallery 2017-2025.
Interest in the works is also coming to Eastern countries.
"I have always believed that every landscape painting is an untold story of nature."
Traveling gives an opportunity to discover the world, Dmitry Oleyn creates his magical world on canvas, where all facets of reality and fantasy miraculously intertwine, which are possible to touch.
